HOW WE MET
We met at the National Research Center on Asian American Mental Health in the Psychology Department of UC Davis. Gordon came late to a meeting that Annie was holding. And because of Gordon's tardiness, Annie had to go over the meeting again with him, one on one. A beautiful relationship ensued.
WHEN WE GOT ENGAGED
November 1, 2002
HOW IT HAPPENED
It was Gordon's birthday. This year, we decided to celebrate it with a homemade dinner by candlelight. After a 5-course meal, a birthday cake and the opening of his present, we wanted nothing more but to just snuggle on the couch and relax. We snuggled and relaxed...then Gordon said: "I love you so much and I can't wait to spend the rest of my life with you...will you marry me?" Annie was so surprised, the first thing she said was, "what? really?" With that Gordon then took her hands and got down on one knee and proposed. Annie said yes, of course.

ABOUT ANNIE
I am the second of three children in my family. I spent the first 7 years of my life in Taipei, Taiwan, amongst a large extended family network--uncles, aunts and cousins. My family moved around a lot (including a 1-year stop over in Honolulu, HI) before settling down in South Pasadena, CA, of which I consider my hometown. I spent my college years at the University of Southern California (FIGHT ON!) where I relearned my Mandarin! I am currently working on my dissertation hoping to graduate soon :). I love to travel and sing :)... enjoy bubble baths, oceans and beaches, and picnics at the park. I also have an adorable shih-tsu, BABY, who my friends used to call "mop" cause of all his hair!

ABOUT GORDON
I awoke in this world 11 inches tall, a small baby in a large city, Shanghai. There I spent 10 delightful years of wonder and happy wandering. One day, my journey took me to foreign shores, San Francisco, USA. A strange and glittering world of color TVs and Automobiles. There I learned Cantonese, and a few months later, learned English and forgot Cantonese. Soon, we moved once more, to Fremont, where my most formative years were forged. Yet, as soon as I have learned the strange customs of suburbia America, I was once more adrift, cast off into the wild, wide world of Davis. A small town, but a metropolis of new experiences and discoveries. College is where I met my closest friends and where I met Annie, my love, of course. Now, the world is expanding once more, Graduate school, responsibility, family, and marriage...
